"Milk jewelry", the strange fashion that arrives in Argentina

Earrings, bracelets or rings, among others, are the jewels that are becoming fashionable in Argentina. However, its fame is not due to the material tradition of these objectives, but rather that its manufacture is made with authentic genetic material and breast milk.

The "jewelry of milk" has become a growing trend in Argentina and in several Latin American countries, its imprint comes from abroad (they were born in the United States around the year 2000) and flourishes with the new local fashions of respectful parenting and breastfeeding request.

Its generic name groups a wide variety of DNA-bearing material: baby hair, umbilical cord, ashes of a deceased loved one, placenta, and breast milk (separately or combined).

"I started making these jewels a little over a year ago, I saw models of milk jewelery in other countries (in the United States and Europe they are very fashionable). I investigated, I got very deep, I did tests. HOW ARE THEY MANUFACTURED?

"Before, many of these memories were kept at home. In the case of milk jewelry, it is subjected to a sterilization and conservation process to transform it into a solid gem, with a lot of love, dedication, care and respect", has indicated one of the manufacturers of these objects Morena De Lisi.

According to the expert, the phase of "drying, polishing and finishing the gem lasts between three and ten days (depending on the chosen model)". The jewel is practically like "a natural color stone from the sample or with added colors, glitter, etc.", she added.

For example, to make a bracelet you need at least between 15 and 40 milliliters of breast milk. The preparation takes approximately one month and is made with 95 silver settings and, in some cases, gold, depending on the demand.
