Glamping is becoming more and more fashionable. Tourist demand for this type of room (cabins, bubbles, yurts...) in the middle of nature has not stopped growing in recent years, both in Spain and in the rest of the world. Despite this, there are still many people who wonder what exactly this phenomenon is and where it comes from. Well, the first answer is simple: it is a concept made up of the words glamor and camping, which offers an experience of conviviality in the open air but without neglecting all the comforts of large hotels. The English translation would come to mean something like "camping in style." La moda del La moda del

In a tourist area such as the Rías Baixas, the appearance of this type of original accommodation could not be less. In the Salnés region, places such as Albarari Sanxenxo stand out, with its open-roof bubble options, or Camping Muiñeira, in O Grove, with modern shops on the shores of the beach. To these attractive options is now added a new space to enjoy nature with more luxuries than those offered by a traditional campsite: the Glamping Illa de Arousa, located in a privileged environment very close to Punta Quilma, and which promises to "satisfy all needs of the most demanding glampers.

More than a century of glamping history

We all know that glamping is experiencing its particular boom, and although it is the current fashion trend, its history dates back a few decades. The term was coined at the end of the 19th century by some wealthy British explorers, including Gordon Laing, David Livingstone and Verney Lovett, who opened the doors of tourism on the African continent, where they came with all the luxuries and comforts of the time. Their safari tents had oversized beds, Persian rugs, and staff ready to meet any traveler's needs.

Although its resurgence came in the 19th century thanks to the American and European expeditionaries, in reality, the glamping trend has its roots in the times of the kings and kingdoms of a few millennia before, due to their need to travel from a territory to another, either to visit the region or conquer a new area.
