The GMC Sierra is synonymous with luxury and refinement. The new generation of version 1500, revealed in mid-2019 in San Diego is no exception. In August, we got our first driving impressions in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and we can assure you that the truck does not disappoint.

Let's start with the basics of the lightest in the family: greater availability for its carbon fiber-covered cargo box and 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine, plus a 10-speed automatic transmission and refined adaptive cruise control.

In its 2020 edition, it features an updated ProGrade towing system, previously announced on the Sierra Heavy Duty. The formula now offers 15 views and related app enhancements designed to make loading and moving easier and faster.

Perhaps one of the newest options is the transparent trailer view, which provides greater confidence to the driver, using the cameras mounted on the tailgate and the rear of the trailer. It is especially useful in parking lots, when merging with traffic and making sharp turns.

Now, each owner can create and edit trailer profiles through the myGMC mobile app and upload them to their Sierra, as well as share them. With this functionality, it is possible to turn on the air conditioning or the water heater of the mobile home, check the water levels in the retention tank or monitor the fuel levels of the generators, indicated the subsidiary of General Motors.

Although the interior could be better, the exterior of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 maintains the rail lines that inspire power. Among others, it receives adaptive cruise control powered by a camera mounted on top of the rearview mirror, which can bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

Beneath the bodywork, we find an unprecedented 10-speed automatic transmission linked to a 5.3-liter V8 engine with Dynamic Fuel Management. A new alternative is the 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel, spread across a six-cylinder inline, which produces 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque at just 1,500 rpm.

If we had to choose, we would lean towards the second option without hesitation. It is true that the Duramax propellant raises the price of the vehicle by almost $10,000, but when it comes to trucks at these levels, money takes a backseat.

Other innovative features include the MultiPro tailgate, with six unique functions and positions; a case protected by carbon fiber, which offers great resistance to dents, scratches and corrosion; a multicolor pop-up screen (head-up display) and the central rear-view mirror with camera, free from obstacles such as passengers or cargo.

The ever-stylish 2020 Denali features suspension with Adaptive Ride Control. Thanks to sensors that monitor road and chassis conditions in real time, it exhibits optimal responsiveness every two milliseconds.

We've saved the trim level that most seduced us for last: the AT4 off-roader, which for 2020 also looks updated with a new Black Chrome front grille surround, black exhaust outlets and modified badging.

The CarbonPro Package will be available in Onyx Black, Summit White, Satin Steel Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic, shades that provide a very distinctive look.

This last variant is the optimal one to indulge in adventure on dusty roads or between rocks. If you're considering the GMC Sierra 1500, the AT4 is the model to go for, with the Duramax block of course.
