Red Hot Chili Peppers fill the FIB venue with 53,000 attendees

The FIB 2017 has fulfilled its expectations and with the claim of the American band Red Hot Chili Peppers, it has filled the concert venue to the brim with 53,000 attendees this Saturday.

The venue was seen as in the best years of the FIB; yes, the poster was far from those editions in which independent music was the protagonist.

Based on hits from the 1990s and early 2000s, the American band Red Hot Chili Peppers has made the thousands of "fibers" who crowded in front of the Las Palmas stage dance until exhaustion.

"Californication", "Under the Bridge", "Can't Stop", "Snow", "Otherside", "Give it Away", "Dark Necessities", Iggy Pop & The cover of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" Stooges, and all those songs that launched them to fame, interspersed with drum solos and some songs from the most recent albums -and which have been received less enthusiastically- have made many forget the queues and the accumulated fatigue of three days of festival.

Californians have been faithful and have continued to mimic their style -the same for decades- with the usual naked torso of Antony Kiedis and the everlasting nodding of all its members.

Another of the most anticipated performances, that of Liam Gallagher

Apart from the Californians, the day has had an outstanding female presence. Groups to thank for the most interesting moments of the night.

Las Kellies, Marika Hackman, Lao Ra, Mala Rodríguez, Desperate Journalist, Las Bistecs, Qwert or B.Traits, have emphasized those female voices that always have less space in programmers' agendas.

With so many people there has been a portion of the public for all the concerts.

Dinosaur Jr. have achieved a good public presence with their veteran and influential guitars, and as a warm-up for one of the most anticipated names, Oasis vocalist Liam Gallagher.

With his traditional cocky pose, sunglasses and jacket, the usual mancuniano of the FIB has put the soundtrack to the sunset with Oasis jewels, such as "Rock and Roll Star", "What's the Story Morning Glory" or a beautiful "Wonderwall" in acoustic version.

He has also had time for other songs from his solo career such as "Chinatown" or "Wall fo Glass".

On the VISA stage, the most respected national hip hop artist, Mala Rodríguez has given way to veterans Surfin Bichos. Bright and dark at the same time, reminiscent of The Smiths at times, Desperate Journalist, the London quartet has conquered the small Radio 3 Fib Club stage, the one where pleasant surprises can be found.

Las Barcelonesas Las Bistecs have undoubtedly been the most scathing, irreverent and fun of the night.

With lyrics in which the puppet is not left with the head, they have assured when starting their performance -with their song "Ano"- that theirs was better than going to see Red Hot Chili Peppers. Confirms how much fun the public was having with them.

Defining themselves as "marrachas with a background", they have proven to be the greatest exponents of "Electro-disgusting", an artistic movement based on musical performance that consists of "disturbing and not leaving anyone indifferent".

And they have counted on the public to chant the lyrics of their album "Offer", in which they also dedicate a theme to tobacco or to the Greek style orders of the columns. Simply great.

This Sunday closes the twenty-third edition

Also at VISA another irreverent has played at the same time as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the quintessential British thug Peter Doherty, disheveled and stumbling over his melodies, has been a good alternative to the din on the main stage.

The night still has a lot to offer like the Scottish band Biffy Clyro on the Las Palmas stage.

The Benicàssim International Festival (FIB) closes its twenty-third edition this Sunday with a lineup led by the British Kasabian, which also includes Years & Years, Crystal Fighters and Love of Lesbian.
