Everything ready for the Kobaz Koba trail 2022

Arazi IKT and Agiro Mendi Kluba have everything ready for a new edition of the Kobaz Koba trail. Edition that will be held on February 13 in Zestoa and will bring together a good number of runners and fans of mountain races.

The zestoarra test is made up of two tests: Artzei bidea (15km) and Zaldei bidea (25km) that run through two separate “beautiful and special routes through local roads, offering the possibility of enjoying a unique natural and historical heritage , suitable for the delight of runners of any level. Its organizers emphasize that in this new edition “it is a route designed through the paths that primitive human beings traveled; through heritage lands and prehistoric sites, along paths with caves that collect evidence of prehistoric paintings and jewelry: Ekain, Danbolinzulo, Astigarraga, Amalda, Praileaitz, Astuigaña, Erraila, Urtiaga, Ermitia and Erlaitz, as well as the Irikaitz site and the monolith of Arluze. Registration for the Kobaz Koba trail 2022 opened on December 10 and the numbers sold out at full speed. The interest shown by the mountain runners in taking part in the event is evident in the speed with which they completed the registration lists. From Arazi IKT and Agiro Mendi Kluba they recall that for the Artzei route (15km) "there are 320 registered participants and as many for the Zaldei route (25km)". Among the female participants, 81 will participate in the short course and 29 in the long course. In addition, this year, Kobaz Koba trail has 30 registered zestoarras to run along the prehistoric paths. All of them will be at the starting line on the Artzei route (15km) and 23 on the Zaldei route (25km). And it is that in these atypical times it is essential to ensure not only the quality of the race, but also the safety of all "say the organizers. In fact, Arazi IKT and Agiro Mendi Kluba acknowledge "with great regret we have also had to limit the number of participants."

The Covid has been the main cause of the limitation in the inscriptions of the test but its organizers emphasize that «we wanted to give importance to the race, which allows you to enjoy prehistoric trails, caves, steep slopes and running along the paths of the first human being in nature. Thus, the use of the mask will have a greater presence in regard to the runners: it will be necessary to wear it at the neutralized start (approximately 1km) and after crossing the finish line. They also recall that «although we would love to repeat it, we have decided to leave the hamaiketako and festive atmosphere that has existed in the Zestoa square for another year, organizing a more limited program; Let's keep being healthy! We will not organize the distribution of prizes as an event in itself, but we will deliver the prizes as soon as the three runners who make the podium cross the finish line. To enjoy both in the mountains and in the square, from the organization of the race we appeal to all the people who will be in Zestoa on February 13 to have an exemplary attitude, complying with the rules.

The organization of the zestoarra test reminds that «all registered people will receive gifts, incorporated into the runner's bag together with the registration. In each route the first three classified will also be awarded, and as is customary in Kobaz Koba Trail, the prizes for men and women will be the same. As an incentive for the participating neighbors, there will be a special prize for the first men and women of each tour.
