The central mountain of Leon awaits some incredible places full of history and future. Some lands in which Vegacervera has a lot to say. From its mining past, it has become a benchmark in active tourism, becoming one of the most visited points in the province.

The challenge is not easy given that the carbon footprint is always very large, but with effort and work this municipality has been able to change the black carbon for the green nature thanks to obtaining an optimal sustainable yield from its mountains and rivers, while promoting its gastronomy.

Various jewels leave Vegacervera in its wake, creating a municipality of the future whose objective is to establish population through companies that promote tourism in its wide range of opportunities that this area offers.

Just 35 minutes from the capital of León is Vegacervera, framed within the Arguellos Biosphere Reserve, different jewels create great potential in this area.

The Cueva de Valporquero is the best known jewel. It is one of the most visited places in the province and, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular. The 'sculptures' formed by water over centuries and centuries have created a structure that leaves no one indifferent who visits it.

Located in the town of Valporquero, just five kilometers from Vegacervera, it receives more than 60,000 visitors a year, who enjoy the spectacular nature of this cave.

Returning from this cave in the direction of Vegacervera, the other great archaeological jewel of the town appears. The Hoces de Vegacervera are the 'path' that has managed to cross the water of the Torío River to try to 'reach' the town.

The beauty of this area has been achieved based on the erosion of water on the stone of the adjacent mountains, making it possible to pass through places that seemed 'impossible' at first.

And, already in the town, the 'third jewel' of Vegacervera arrives: its gastronomy. The craft products and sausages are the hallmark of the town, without forgetting its flagship product: the Vegacervera goat cecina.

Cheeses, sausages, yoghurts and curds from Coladilla and this cured meat make up the most traditional 'pantry' of Vegacervera, which can be tasted in the different restaurants and inns in the municipality.

Nature, good gastronomy and relax. This is what Vegacervera offers, this is what has made this town one of the benchmarks in rural tourism in the province of León.
