The ringleader of the assault on the Plaza jewelry store: "I used the money to drug myself"

The leader of the group that last September robbed a luxurious jewelry store in the Plaza Mayor, Bilbao's APA, has once again pleaded guilty to the impressive robbery , going so far as to point out that the money he got from it, he simply "dedicated it to getting high" . He specified before the judge instructing the proceedings that he sold the jewelry obtained in the assault "to people he knew in Pizarrales" and that they gave him "about 35,000 euros in cash" for them. According to what he said, of all this, "he only kept a Rolex".

He also stated that "at the time of the events he was drugged," in fact, he said, "he did it because of his drug addiction."

The Investigating Court number Three of Salamanca received an amplifying statement on Tuesday, in which the offender, who has remained in provisional detention since he was arrested, just two weeks after the assault, appeared via videoconference .

In his statements, assisted by his lawyer Rubén Gudino, he not only declared himself the author of it, but also said that he "coordinated it." He was in charge, for example, of renting two flats for his commission, in one of which they slept the night of the robbery.

Throughout his statement, he repeatedly exonerated two other detainees, a man and his girlfriend, regarding whom he said "they have nothing to do with this matter... they are in this procedure due to an error, because the brother de A. -referring to the detainee- called him because he was drugged and overwhelmed”.

It would have been at that moment when the couple would have come to Salamanca, according to what he said, to look for the woman's brother. And that it was he who left at the man's house, given the trust between the two, "a backpack with tools, clothes and a Rolex." Belongings that he did not take with him “out of fear” but that he intended to collect later.
