Arrested for stealing jewelry from the house where she worked

The investigation began with a complaint from a 47-year-old resident of Gijón who had hired a woman to help him with household chores. Occasionally the woman went to her home to do general cleaning of the house, but she was not authorized to check the inside of cabinets and drawers.

However, the man noticed the disappearance of some jewelry that he kept in a drawer of the nightstand: two gold chains with pendants, a bracelet and a gold seal valued at more than 2,500 euros.

Investigators discovered that each of the pieces had been sold in different stores to avoid drawing attention to their possible illegal origin. Once the theft of the jewelry was verified, the cleaner was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of theft. The woman had a record for attacking an agent of authority and in her statement she admitted having stolen the pieces to alleviate her financial problems.
