The University of Huelva (UHU) hosts from this Tuesday, January 18, the third edition of Univergem, a program financed by the Andalusian Institute for Women, dependent on the Ministry of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship and the employment of university students.

The program, launched by the Huelva Employment and Entrepreneurship Service, has begun with the participation of more than 20 UHU students and has a first block of training actions and a second block of internships that will be developed from this January until next July, as explained by the Director of Employment and External Chairs of the University of Huelva, Francisco José Barba.

It is a "reference program in the Andalusian university system", continued Barba, after which he highlighted that "the one we are developing at the University of Huelva has enormous results and is highly valued".

Likewise, the Employment Director of Huelva has explained that it is "a very intense program of work with a group of university women with different degrees, with whom we are going to work on transversal skills, soft skills, professional skills and dynamics to promote the spirit entrepreneurship and even start-up of companies by university students”.

It is, in short, a "complete program so that university women can find themselves in a better position with regard to their professional future and job placement, which is imminent in almost all of them", he concluded.

In the same vein, the vice-rector for Innovation and Employability of the University of Huelva, Isabel María Rodríguez, has stated that this program has aroused "a lot of interest" in the Huelva University from the first year, to the point that "the Junta de Andalucía set us as an example for the rest of the universities.

Not only "we are committed to it from the beginning", but also "we try to extrapolate it to the entire university community", the vice-rector continued, after which she highlighted the importance of a program like this one that "was born with the vocation of promoting employment among women”, he added.

The inaugural act also included the participation of the Huelva Women's Information Center's Program Advisor, María Martín, who underlined the "importance" of this IAM initiative, which is launched from an "alliance" with the University of Huelva, which he congratulated for the development of the program.

For Martín, "it is important that women have a presence in management positions and in the technological and industrial sectors, in which they are not yet highly visible", said the representative of the Andalusian Women's Institute, after what she has defended ña need for this program "to continue for many more years".

The training actions aim to provide female students with the tools and transversal skills necessary to promote employment and entrepreneurship and, therefore, achieve an increase in their labor insertion, for which all activities take into account the perspective of gender and the current situation of women in the labor market, emphasizing various areas such as occupational segregation, equal opportunities or the needs of the labor market itself.

The training actions that are going to be carried out range from courses and workshops to awareness days and visits to entities and companies in Huelva, such as a Course on Digital Marketing and Employment 2.0, Intensive English Course, Online Course on Equal Opportunities and Personal Coaching , Web Design, App and E-Commerce Course, Women's Entrepreneurship Week, awareness activities, Copywriting Workshop, Webinar Development Workshop, STEM and Public Employment Conference, Skills Workshop in the Job Search Process or Coaching Workshop Motivational, among others.

On the other hand, from May to July, internships will be developed in companies, which will be carried out taking into account the preferences and professional profile of the students and will attend to the professional skills of the current degree or postgraduate degree.
