The news that comes to us from time to time about Tala Alamuddin, Amal Clooney's wayward and repeat offender, is usually not very positive. A few months ago we learned that she had been sentenced to three weeks in jail in Singapore for driving under the influence of alcohol. And now she has been involved in controversy again for selling luxury masks, not approved for her medical use, from her website in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.
The masks, which she sells for 29 euros each, in three sizes and in various animal prints, belong to her 'Le Masque' collection and are sold alongside bags of more than a thousand euros, accessories and various jewelry. In addition, its shipping period is ideal for a rush in the midst of a pandemic: from 8 to 12 weeks.
"In our ever-changing world, we have your needs covered: comfortable (and chic) protection is very important," says the description of the mask in question. "This luxurious accessory offers protection with style – Le Masque is designed to perfectly fit the curves of your face," reads her website.

Of course, the critics have not been long in coming, describing this decision as having very bad taste and trivializing such an important health problem.
She, for her part, defends herself by ensuring that all the profits obtained from the sale of her will go to the Singapore Red Cross, where she lives, and to those affected by the coronavirus.
Alamuddin is certainly not the first to take advantage of her fashion brand to put masks on sale in the midst of a crisis. In this line are all those personalized masks that have been presented by prestigious firms such as Off-White, Louis Vuitton or Gucci and that have been openly worn by many celebs such as Bella Hadid or Gwyneth Paltrow.
